The Difference Between a Swim Spa and Hot Tub
Hot tubs and swim spas are both great for relaxation and recreation in your own back yard. They use warm water combined with massage jets to provide hydrotherapy and numerous health benefits. The main difference between the two is swim spas are much larger and are equipped with large water jets that can create a current that you can swim in for exercise.
Determining which is better for your depends on many factors such as your budget, yard size and fitness needs. Our friendly spa experts can help you evaluate your options to see which is best for you!
Swim Spa vs. Swimming Pool
Swim spas have become a popular alternative to swimming pools recently as they are cheaper, smaller, easier to maintain and offer more features. Swim spas utilize powerful jets to simulate a current and allow you to swim without taking up too much space. In most cases swimming pools are seasonal, especially in North Carolina, whereas a swim spa has heated water and can used year round.

spring
Because swim spas can be used year-round, you don’t need to spend extra time doing maintenance for opening like you would for a pool.
After the long winter you are finally able to begin the process of getting your swimming pool ready by doing costly and time-consuming opening maintenance so it’s ready for summer.
summer
During summer you can enjoy both your swim spa with additional features such as adjustable infinity swim jets and jetted hydrotherapy seating.
During summer you can finally use your pool! However, you will need to spend more time doing water maintenance and cleaning due to its larger size.
autumn
During the autumn season your easy-to-open swim spa cover will keep your spa clean.
During the autumn season you will have to deal with constant cleaning of leaves and debris, and you will have to close it at the end of the season for the winter months.
winter
During the winter season your swim spa can maintain a warm water temperature throughout the coldest months, allowing for true year-round use.
Most swimming pools are closed for the winter season.
Swimming pools are limited to only one season per year.

Epic Hot Tubs went above and beyond on the service side after the purchase of our hot tub…Epic Hot Tubs was always reachable and never hesitated to come out to the house to try and solve the problem. Keep service in mind when thinking about purchasing a hot tub online at a lower cost. Manny personally gets 6 stars. Consider Epic Hot Tubs if you’re in the market for a spa/hot tub.

Epic Hot Tubs was TERRIFIC! Johnna made me feel valued and took her time to explain the different Hot Tub to me. She even had me to seat in one to see where the water would hit me since I am a little short. If you are thinking about getting a hot tub go see Epic Hot Tubs. They will go through all the pros and cons with you. It was a great experience. Thank again.

Everyone at Epic HoT Tubs is amazing!… They were so accommodating and held the tub for us until the deck was ready. After the delivery, we had a small leak from one of the air diverters and Manny came out the next morning to fix it. While he was here, he was very helpful. He answered all of my questions and even walked me through the basics of water maintenance. I would 100% recommend buying a hot tub from Epic Hot Tubs because not only were the prices great but the post-sale service was exceptional as well!

Everyone at Epic Hot Tubs in Durham is so friendly. Promptly answer questions and as hot tub users themselves give you all kinds of advice to support the best choice for YOU so you are happy with your experience. Delivery was a breeze because everyone stayed in contact to be clear about the truck’s arrival even when the schedule changed because of the storm. There isn’t anyone on the team that didn’t hold a high standard of customer service and knowledge. I especially thank Manny for going out of his way to meet me at the Durham location to show me hot tubs that are available right now.
