Frequently Asked Questions About Saunas
How are saunas heated?
Saunas can be heated with gas, electric or even wood. Most modern saunas are heated using electricity (220V) which requires an electrician to install.
What is the maximum temperature? How long does it take to get there?
Saunas can reach internal temperatures of 195 F and typically take 15 to 30 minutes to reach temperature.
What kind of ongoing maintenance is needed?
Caring for a sauna does not need to be a labor intensive process. General maintenance consists of simply wiping down any mess as it occurs including sweat, body oils and debris. Paint and sealants should not be applied to a sauna, though if the color begins to tarnish, the wood can be sanded down to reveal its original finish.
