What is a Fiberglass Swimming Pool?
We’re a referral partner of one of the very few pool contractors in North Carolina that can start new inground fiberglass swimming pool projects within the next couple of months. Period.
Fiberglass swimming pools consist of a one-piece shell made entirely out of fiberglass material. They have a gel-coat finish and a smooth, non-porous surface. They are a favorite among many because they are stain and algae-resistant which makes for low maintenance and easy cleaning.
Benefits of a Fiberglass Swimming Pool
At Epic Hot Tubs, we know that you have many choices when it comes to installing a new swimming pool. If you’re not sure if a fiberglass swimming pool is right for you, consider these benefits:
Quick Installation
Since fiberglass pools are installed as one piece, there is less time needed to get it in place. Fiberglass is also not vulnerable to weather conditions so it can be installed under virtually any condition.
Durability
Fiberglass swimming pools are made to last. They are less likely to get damaged or punctured.
Low Maintenance
Fiberglass swimming pools are smooth and prevent algae growth. Since there are no crevices as with cement pools, there is fewer algae buildup and debris.
No Resurfacing Needed
Concrete pools often need resurfacing after a few years. That’s not the case with fiberglass pools. You also don’t have to worry about replacing liners as you would with other types of pools.
How Are Fiberglass Swimming Pools Installed?
Fiberglass swimming pool installation is a fairly easy process. Here’s a quick look at what you can expect:
Laying Out the Pool
First, the area where the pool is going to be needs to be laid out. The installer will map out where the pool will go and take measurements to prepare for the next step.
Excavation
Once all of the measurements have been taken, excavation at the site will take place. This is where the hole will be dug to make way for your new pool.
Laying the Base
After the floor is set, the base needs to be established. A bed of gravel is laid out and then compacted.
Pool Placement
Once all the groundwork is done, it’s time to take delivery of your pool. It will be carefully lifted into place, typically with a crane.
Plumbing
This is the step where the pipes and filter are put into place to get your pool up and running. During this stage, the pool will also be filled with water and backfilled at the same time to provide stability.
Finishing Touches
After the pool is full, it will need a reinforcing rebar to make sure it is safe. The finishing touches include any coping and decking around the pool. Once everything is in place, it’s time to take a dip in your new fiberglass swimming pool!
